A Woman with Soul: Megan Monique
Describe one of the most soul-opening moments of your life. My little sister and I didn’t get along very well growing up. I found it necessary to play the mother role in her life when Mom wasn’t around (our parents were divorced), and frankly we couldn’t be in the same room with one another without fighting all the way up until I was 18, when I moved out of the house and off to Austin.
It was there I began taking Landmark Education courses and had the breakthrough of a lifetime. Through discussion and honesty, I realized that the anger and resentment I had towards my sister wasn’t because we “just didn’t get along.” It was because I had been jealous of the attention she got from my Mom all of our lives.
When I came back home to Dallas for a visit, I shared this breakthrough with my sister. There were lots of tears and apologies. I promised her I would never take out my anger towards my Mom on her again. That was an incredible soul-opening moment in my life. It leveled the playing field for our relationship and we were able to begin again.
Although we’ve still had ups and downs over the years, I can confidently say we are closer now than we have ever been and I am a better person for allowing her into my life.
When do you feel your most soulful? I feel the most soulful when I am wrapped up in the arms of my husband. I’ve never experienced a more true or honest love than when I am with him. I have no doubts about who we are for each other; there is only love between us. It’s pure, honest and real.
I also feel soulful when I have conversations with friends or clients that create breakthroughs. When I am showing up as the vessel to deliver a message from Source. When I allow myself to be open, clear and nonjudgmental I can reach my full potential to help others through conversation. It’s my gift and it lights me up.
Where have you felt the most in touch with your own soul? The Gulf ocean. The water is warm, the beaches are sandy. I can hear the waters calling my name when I have been away for too long. In this space, I feel the most connected to Source, surrender and myself. The ocean brings me peace and gratitude. It leaves me feeling like a small dot connecting the much larger picture. To experience the ocean is a blessing.
What qualities do you feel a soulful relationship has? A soulful relationship has honesty and trust. Hands down.
