Growing up in a foreign country… a country I still consider home…
My first heartbreak….
The sound of my first baby’s heartbeat… and first experience of life inside me… the realization that I would never hear that again…
My first and second car accidents…
My first apartment…
The birth of my 2nd baby… and near death experience…
My marriage…..
My divorce…
Graduating from high school, then undergrad, then graduate school…
My only daughter’s high school graduation…
Obtaining my license as a professional counselor…

What was the most soul-opening moment of your life? My most soul opening moment was the day my Mother died 4 years ago, 2 weeks before Christmas. Her death woke me up and showed me what really matters. That’s the day I knew I had to stand on my own, embrace the Divine within… that ever-present state of consciousness I feared. It was time to share my purpose in life which is to love and be loved like nobody’s business—starting with me. I am my first and most important soulmate.

When do you feel your most soulful? I feel my most soulful when I’m dancing. The music and I become one and my body takes over. It’s during those moments I feel the energy of the life force around me and I become part of it. It’s soul releasing.

Where have you felt the most in touch with your own soul? I would have to say the beach—any beach, especially as the sun is setting. The mystery of the sea and sheer beauty of it leaves me in awe. As I look out, I imagine what’s out there and being part of it. As I take in the sounds that speak peace to my soul, a sense of calm flows through me leaving me feeling at one with everything around me. That’s what makes it special.

Who is one of the most soulful people you’ve ever known? One of the most soulful people I’ve ever known… is me. I can’t hold back the tears now. It took me a long time to embrace that about myself because it scared me. I can’t really explain myself.  I’m not arrogant or conceited; I just know me. I know who I am. I am my consciousness. I just am.

What qualities do you feel a soulful relationship has? Intimate physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual connection and all that comes with a deep sense of friendship that reaches those untouched, sacred places. Most importantly is continued openness, curiosity, enthusiasm, respect, trust, acceptance, appreciation, acknowledgment, humility, learning, growing, and discipline. I believe that soulmates have to really like each other.

What do you feel your soul’s purpose is? My soul’s purpose is to love and be loved.
