A Woman with Soul: Audrey Taska Hare
Tell us about a deep soul connection you’ve experienced. It has been over thirty-five years and I still feel a deep connection to a pet fish I had. As a child I was very fearful. My Mom was afraid of bugs, lizards, you name it. However, I decided I wanted a pet fish and saved money to buy a fishbowl and a few fishes.
One of the fish was special to me. He was a black fish with an unusual tail and fins. In my country (Jamaica), they call it a “fighter,” just as you would have goldfish. I was preparing to clean the bowl and was transferring the fishes to another container when “fighter” fell out of my hand to the ground. I started screaming and crying. To this day, I still feel a deep sadness and guilt about causing the death of my fish.
Describe one of the most soul-opening moments of your life. A few years ago, I stood in my backyard and for the first time became aware of a certain tree. The shape of the tree trunk was unusual. I stood staring at it, transfixed.
Tears began flowing and I felt a deep love for this tree. I went and hugged the tree with tears flowing down my face. It was my first experience connecting with nature.
When do you feel your most soulful? My most soulful moments happen when I open my front door and see the hanging plants on my porch and the beautiful garden that surrounds my home. My state of mind is stillness, peace, harmony and love.
Where in the world have you felt the most in touch with your own soul? Vancouver Island in British Columbia is a significant place for me. I had the awesome feeling of being one with the moon as I stood by the sea one night. The moon was full and reflected in the water. I felt at one with the moon. I was the moon in that moment.
What do you feel your soul’s purpose is? I believe my soul purpose is teaching spiritual truths to souls that are ready to Awaken to their Spiritual Magnificence.
